Sardinia...

The second largest island in the Mediterranean, Sardinia has incredibly beautiful gorges, rugged rocky highlands and is littered with kilometres of unspoiled coastline. The island is particularly famous for its beaches but is also rich in charming sea towns, caves and archeological ruins.

The Costa Smeralda (or Emerald Coast) with its glamourous Porto Cervo (and islands of Maddalena and Caprera) takes advantage of the natural beauty of the area and is today, a paradise for high-budget tourism and one of the most exclusive destinations not only of Italy, but of the world.

Cagliari is the capital of the province and gateway for domestic flights to the island. Nearby Villasimius, on the southern coast set amidst granite headlands and pure white sand beaches, offers beach side resorts amongst the best that nature has to offer. The best of Northern Sardinia is easily explored on a short 6 days/5 night Sardinia escorted tour (ex Genoa to Porto Torres) and includes Capo Caccia, Alghero, Castelsardo, Capo Testa, Palau, Costa Esmerelda and island of Maddaleno and Caprera.
A one day visit to the French island of Corsica can be added to this tour.
